Heidi currently works at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital where she is an Instructor in the Department of Surgery and The Vincent Center for Reproductive Biology. She is a Research Scientist specializing in cryobiology, or the preservation of cells and tissues. Heidi works on developing novel biopreservation strategies for fertility preservation. The issue of fertility preservation is an issue of growing importance, particularly for cancer patients. Heidi’s main focus has been mainly oocyte cryopreservation for women.
She received her doctorate in Medical Sciences from the University of Alberta where she studied cryobiology and osmotic transport across cell membranes. She is also a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and The Society for Cryobiology.
