You, Infertility and Essential Health Benefits

Now is the time to decide if you are okay with millions of Americans paying out of pocket for the diagnosis and treatment of Infertility, a medical condition which the US Supreme Court found should be included in the American Disabilities Act and inflicts 1 in 6 couples. Please take 30 minutes to help make a difference!

Beginning 2014, under the Affordable Care Act, consumers can choose and purchase insurance plans that will cover a comprehensive and affordable set of health services.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has created a proposal to establish how essential health benefits will be defined and what they include. At this time, infertility benefits are not included. States with mandated insurance coverage risk losing their benefits.

Public input on the HHS proposal is encouraged. Comments are due by Jan 31, 2012 and can be sent to:

HHS needs to know why infertility health benefits are essential and how they are affordable.

Please take the time to share your story and ask for infertility to be an essential benefit. Fertility Within Reach has information you can use to support your request. Please don’t wait another day. Act now and feel good about yourself for taking action!

Below you will find a link to the letter I sent to HHS. You can use it as a guide, but please make sure you use your own story and words. We have learned from legislators, mass produced letters do not make an impact. Your time and personal story is what makes the greatest impact. In our experience, the final rally can make all the difference.
